Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant Glorietta 2

It was another time when restaurant suggestions were needed as we strolled around Glorietta. Since I've tried Watami once before at the Mall of Asia, I eagerly suggested the place when asked.

First time at Watami: Watami Afternoon Snack at the Mall of Asia

That Saturday, the huge restaurant was merely at 1/4 capacity at 12 noon. It may be that the location was a little tough to look for, (it's along Hotel Drive, near the entrance to Holiday Inn) with no direct access from the mall.

For the food, the Shrimp Tempura Roll was just okay.

And nothing was special with the Shrimp Tempura.

What I really looked forward to was the Self-Grilled Short Ribs which I have anticipated for since visiting last March.

We had the option to have them grill it for us, or have a table-top stove set-up in front of us for the "self-grilling". I didn't quite like the stove set-up since it took up most of the space of the table where it's set. For the taste, I found these good -- flavourful and tender. We enjoyed two orders of this which we shared between five.

The Beef Pepper Rice was as good as when I tried it the first time.

You'll have a better Beef Rice Bowl over at Yoshinoya, so I suggest you skip this.

I found this Okonomiyaki ordinary. Nikko's aunt was able to make a better version at home.

Our overall experience at Watami Glorietta was just so-so. I hope they'd have better patronage to maintain the huge space and payback the seemingly hefty investment for the place.

Watami is an international brand with over 700 branches all over Asia. Brought in by the Bistro Group, it's set among the rows of restaurant they operate at the MOA Entertainment Mall namely: Modern Shanghai, Italianni's, Fish & Co., and TGI Friday's. It's a good place to visit with the family for great tasting yet affordable Japanese cuisine.
