Special Occasions Best Celebrated at My Kitchen

Not really MY Kitchen, but Chef Chris'.

Being avid fans of Chef Chris' cooking from when he was with C! Pampanga, we couldn't help but drag my parents to celebrate my dad's birthday over at the chef's only workstation in Manila. I've been meaning to bring them here, since I felt that it would somehow be special knowing how my mom spent her childhood growing up in Paco.

We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30pm for early dinner that Friday evening.

People would usually start pouring in at around 7:30pm. From our first visit, we were glad to find out that they've expanded the dining area up to the pool side area and Oasis' hotel lobby to accommodate their loyal patrons.

Here's sharing what we enjoyed over dinner for five.
We munched on warm bread with pesto and cheese dip while ordering. Unlimited bread is always pleasant.

In such a small plate, Chef Chris managed to combine a blend of artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, capers, caramelized onions, sun dried tomatoes, kalamata, olives, arugula and romaine lettuce. What a mouthful! This was a great way to start our meal.

Renamed from the classic Kristina Panizza of C, the Original Tinlou is our staple order in both C and My Kitchen. With bacon, ham, caramelized onion, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms, it never fails to satisfy our taste buds.

The second one we got was the Original Verena (C's name for this is Rolls Royce). I felt that the sun-dried tomatoes overpowered the entire experience, and I didn't get even a hint of the truffle oil.

Of course, Panizza won't be complete without Arugula and Alfalfa.

To enjoy Panizza, strips of sliced portions are to be rolled with these vegetables to your contentment.
How I Roll - separate occasion
Being with the original creators of panizza, we were glad to be served with the crusts in perfect shape for rolling. Even the up and coming superstar in Angeles rumoured to be competitive with C paled in comparison.

We would usually get Risotto Con Frutti Di Mare, but this time we tried it in Spaghetti form. The same with the Risotto dish, this one has tons of toppings that will definitely fill you up fast. With salmon, dorado, snapper, prawns, mussels, this one may even be too much for one person to finish.

Prepared after an old family recipe in lemon and white wine flavoured cream sauce, this Osso Buco Maestri is indeed a masterpiece. We didn't understand why it wasn't served on top of the risotto, but it turned out better this way. I was able to appreciate the heavy-flavoured melt-in-your-mouth meat on its own, then compliment it with spoonfuls of that warm and light-flavoured saffron risotto.

Another risotto dish we ordered was flanked with ox-tongue. The mellow combination of fresh mushrooms and tender braised-ox tongue in pomodoro sauce made every bite a delight.

You will never go wrong deciding to celebrate family events here in My Kitchen. It's better saved for special occasions, considering the slightly higher price point for meals.
