Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant at the Mall of Asia

Before Paul, my brother headed back to the Netherlands, I insisted for us to have a quick meal at the Mall of Asia. This was despite that he was having dinner at Rockwell in an hour, and dad intended to join mom and mom's relatives over at Robinson's Magnolia for some sort of reunion.

I first heard about Watami when we went to the new Glorietta wing last January for lunch. Little did I know that they've already opened their pilot branch as early as November of last year at MOA.

Watami is located at the back of North side Entertainment Mall, supermarket side. Being at the second floor provides for experiencing awesome sunset views.

It was real early for dinner, so no one was there when we started ordering.

We tried out the Shrimp Tempura first. These were succulent and just right.

We were pleased with the Pepper Beef Rice's flavours even without the usual sauces we'd need to add for taste over at Pepper Lunch. With its ample serving size good enough for sharing, this dish provides great bang for the buck.

Since we were all pretty full from our late lunch, we decided to split everything we ordered.

Although ramen isn't what you'd want to try in a contemporary restaurant with an outstanding lineup of unique Japanese food, I just had to try the Watami Ramen. With bean sprouts, Kyushu-style broth, and chashu pork, this was a heartwarming dish that didn't disappoint.

Paul was craving for dessert, and I insisted that they'd have a good selection here. He had the Chocolate Parfait and loved it. I'd like to try the Maccha (green tea) dessert selection on our next visit though.

Other than what we ordered, other items I'd like to try on our next visit would be their Pizza, Teppan [Php 225-275], Hotpot [Php 355-380], and their self-grilled short ribs [Php 295].

Watami is an international brand with over 700 branches all over Asia. Brought in by the Bistro Group, it's set among the rows of restaurant they operate at the MOA Entertainment Mall namely: Modern Shanghai, Italianni's, Fish & Co., and TGI Friday's. It's a good place to visit with the family for great tasting yet affordable Japanese cuisine.

  1. I know I'm too busy with work if this restaurant has been open for months and I haven't noticed it yet! (I work next to MOA >.<) The pepper beef rice looks worth a try, thanks for blogging about this. :)

  2. Same for me. I lived within close vicinity of MOA and I didn't know about it :) You should go try it out with your family. Thanks for passing by Madellaine!
