Romantic Ku De Ta at Seminyak Bali

Part two of my 5-part Bali Backlog Blogging series, is our lovely dinner at Ku De Ta, Seminyak Beach. Known for being a lifestyle destination, Ku de Ta has stood for a little more than 10 years already.




A huge tree with colorful lanterns hanging from it welcomed us as we approached the bar and restaurant.

The restaurant area is huge, and is divided into ten sections: The Tree Bar, Dining Room, Pergola, Pool Side Dining, Fidel's, Sexion 9, Day Beds, Sunset Box, The Lawn and the KDT Deck. The variety is fit for a wide range of needs and customer types. That night, the crowd was mostly expatriates and foreigners to Bali.

We had our reservation at the Pergola area, described as "A more intimate extension of the main Dining Room, dedicated to all day dining and better suited to couples".


It was difficult to find light in the sexy-lit restaurant.


The restaurant had interesting paintings made by local artists lining the path towards the restroom and beside the bustling kitchen.








As we settled down, we found Ku de Ta passports for each of us, serving as an invitation to the various events from July to September of 2012. 



The menu started with a quote about Service:

There is soul, and there are things.
Imagine a world made up only of objects,
A world of idle tools,
A restaurant of nothing but tables and chairs,

For starters, we tried out the Watermelon, Persian Feta, Basil and with Roasted Shallot Dressing.

For my main course, I had the recommended Pan Fried Barramundi Fillet, with turmeric curry, smoked eggplant, corn and kaffir lime perkedel, tempe chips.

The husband had Roasted "Best End" Pork Loin with crispy spiced potatoes, fern tip and coconut salad, rendang jus.

After our meal, the staff and Nikko surprised me with this ice cream topped dessert. 


The centerpiece of The Lawn is a DJ's booth, where wild Ku de Ta parties start to brew.

We hung out at the Sunset Box section until we found vacant Day Beds.

The Day Bed Area is also called Sky Show Arena, and said to be the best place to watch the sunsets over the Indian Ocean. It was a very romantic setting, hearing the subtle music combined with the sound of waves crashing.




We enjoyed some drinks while we savoured the moment.
