Relish, Hello Happiness!

We were going around Tomas Morato looking for a place to have a quick lunch last week, when we remembered to have passed by a new one beside Cerchio.

We got to Scout Limbaga and found Relish, still in their soft opening period. The restaurant has ample parking space to accommodate around 10-12 cars, but this may not be enough during peak hours.

The text on the sign outside said "Soft Opening 0926.695.9885" for reservation purposes.

This giant Relish motto welcomed us right before we entered: "Where delightful breakfasts, delicious lunches, cozy afternoon teas and unforgettable dinners happen Sunday to Sunday!"

Tomas Morato is already the second branch for Relish, the first branch being at the ground floor of Ponte Salcedo Building in Valero.

The first thing I noticed was how similar the interior design is to the neighboring restaurant. I had to ask the server if Relish is connected to the group of Romulo's, Cerchio and Thaipan, and were told that it's actually from the creators of Mario's. The interiors however, were by the same designers Ivy and Cynthia Almario.

We had one order of clam chowder and had it split to two. It was a bad idea because it's really meant for one. Tasty clams, carrot, potato and bacon bits excited my taste buds. I wanted two servings of it instead of the one half that I got!

Everything else here, we shared between four people. The sisig was very crunchy and creamy at the same time. Very good but slightly bitin, though the portioning was acceptable since it belonged to the "Small Plates" section of the menu, or appetizers.

The beef belly had amazing flavors on the first bite, but I started to look for the gravy to offset its slight dryness towards the end.

The porkchop simply blew me away.

The roast chicken described as "roasted half chicken marinated in garlic cloves, oregano, and infused with lemon" had flavours through to the meat making it real juicy.

I didn't like the salmon very much because of the overpowering "creamy savoury topping" made of tartar sauce. The mashed potato tasted almost like butter.

The service was really good and we had two waiters always on standby. We wouldn't have known that it was their soft opening if it wasn't written in front. Relish is another great addition to the flourishing Tomas Morato restaurant options.
